Suck it up, cupcake
I don’t know where I heard that expression, but it seems so fitting. Whether it’s a difficult situation at work or at home, there are some things that you just can’t stress over – you just have to deal with. Do it and move on.
I’ve caught myself lately having pity moments, and then I tell myself to “suck it up, cupcake” and get it done. Issues with the computers – reboot, test the connections, make a call if that doesn’t work. Someone calls out sick – make the necessary changes to the schedule, and pick up the slack as needed. At the end of a long day, there are issues with air conditioning or plumbing – great. Big sigh, make a call to get it fixed. Go ahead and have that difficult conversation to dilute the drama.
Whatever you do, there will be things you don’t expect or want happen no matter how hard you try to avoid them, and ignoring them doesn’t do one bit of good. In fact, the longer you ignore the issue, the worse it gets usually. The best approach is to face the challenge head on and deal with it. Done with you!
There is such a sense of relief when you have taken on that problem and dealt with it. Whew. Check it off and keep going.
What issues do you need to deal with and move on? How do you need to suck it up, cupcake?
