Calm during the storm

I woke up to tornado sirens this morning, as a line of severe storms moved through the middle Tennessee area. As I studied my devotions with the background of the weatherman on tv telling about the likely areas of high winds and possible spinoffs, I prayed for safety for those in the line of the storms, and for peace for my friend who is fighting cancer.

As the storm raged outside, I read the line “I will guard you and keep you in constant Peace, as you focus your mind on Me,” in the book Jesus Calling by Sarah Young, along with the scripture passage, “He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast trusting in the Lord,” from Psalm 112:7.

What comfort!

What storms will you be facing this week? A situation at work? A family issue? Health struggles?

I pray that you and I both can stay focused on Jesus and find calm in the midst of our storms.

    • Thanks Kittie. I don’t do very well in bad weather – lived through a tornado when I was little and get a little traumatized still. Thought there wasn’t anything bad nearby, but saw quite a few trees down when I ran this morning – scary stuff.
