Over the last week or so, I’ve been planning and vision-casting for 2013, and I have to admit I feel abundantly hopeful and excited about the possibilities. Because my last few months have been so overwhelmingly busy, I felt a bit like I was hanging on by my fingernails, and wasn’t sure how to think about the new year.
But now that I’ve had time to process and plan, I see good things in my future. Approaching the year with my three focus words in mind, JOURNEY, APPRECIATE and DELIGHT, changes my outlook.
Instead of hesitant and timid, I feel bold and gutsy. Instead of craving routine, I’m excited about changes and challenges and new experiences. One of the things I’m doing differently this year is participating in the Brave New Year course (affiliate link) with Chris Brogan, who is challenging me in ways I’ve not been challenged before.
In just the first few weeks of the class, I’ve realized that I don’t believe in myself enough – and that is changing. I’m learning ways to accept where I am and work toward improving. I’m changing my thought process and not waiting on anyone else to give me the permission to excel. I will take the bull by the horns, so to speak, and do what I know I can do with self-assurance.
What I have realized is that I will never accomplish the things I want and need to if I wait on others to tell me it’s ok. That’s a very liberating realization!
So I continue to refine my vision and my goals for the year with new energy – new verve (don’t you love that word?).
How are you approaching your goals for the new year?
